The Prison Industry Curriculum
a comprehensive online course about the prison industry and the fight to build a world without
The prison industry is made up of a sprawling matrix of corporations and public-private partnerships that support human caging and control for profit. More than 4,000 corporations conspire alongside the government conspirators to profit from the incarceration of 2.1 million mothers, fathers, children, and grandparents and the surveillance of 4.4 million more on probation or parole.
The Curriculum is a historic and unprecedented work of political education. It is a free, comprehensive, self-guided online course — based on Worth Rises’ annual report The Prison Industry: How it Started, How it Works, How it Harms — complete with a 150-page visual textbook, educational videos, and weekly classes.
As part of our curriculum development, VB also personally led a series of deep listening sessions with currently and formerly incarcerated advocates, as well as their families, to incorporate their stories and voices into every section of the course.
